| LASIK
(not lasix which is a medication).....A procedure performed by a
surgeon that reduces or eliminates refractive errors including myopia
(nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.
Those who have reached their mid-forties have another refractive
error called presbyopia which LASIK cannot correct although a method
of correction called monovision might be a solution. Many people
that wear contacts already use the monovision method to avoid or
reduce their dependency on reading glasses.
We at Peak Family Eye Care believe that LASIK can be an excellent
alternative to glasses and contacts. Dr. Jordan welcomes anyone
interested to make an appointment to discuss the benefits and risks
of having LASIK. A comprehensive eye exam will be needed and a referral
to a surgeon specializing in LASIK will determine if the procedure
is appropriate.
A new form of LASIK called wavefront has recently been approved
for moderate to high amounts of myopia and astigmatism. This new
method of correcting vision helps reduce certain abberations that
are found in the optics of our eyes. Some patients may benefit more
than others from wavefront. Wavefront technology has been used for
years in other areas of science before it's incorporation into LASIK.
Our office refers patients to Colorado Laser Surgeons located
in the Cherry Creek area. They are associated with Omni Eye Specialists
which manages eye diseases for our office as well. You may not find
a more compassionate staff or highly trained doctors that use the
most advanced equipment in their facility than CLS. They do not
need to advertise their professional abilities because they do only
see patients on a referral basis.
